We picked it up at our son's scholastic book fair yesterday and my son (4th grader) read the entire book in 24 hours. He can't wait for the next book in the series.

My son, who just turned 9, read the book on his own in just a few nights. That is a testament to what a great book this is as that is a pretty rare occasion for him! I will definitely look for other books from this author for him. I also work at the school book fair and this book is the hot commodity! It flies off the shelf as soon as we get it stocked!
I was getting a preview of our bookfai4r and saw this book. I am a special ed teacher and have many struggling readers. I looked the book up online and loved it. I put a book on hold and told our media specialist and many other teachers about it. This is a great book for our middle school kids and struggling readers and I think they will lovee it. Brenda
This is the first book that has my 9 year old son's attention. He can't put it down. He reads it on the way to school, when he wakes up and bedtime. I've struggled so hard with getting him to read but now he's looking forward to your second book. My son and I picked up your book last Saturday and he read right through it! It has been a long time since my child has been this excited about a book. He even wanted me to wake him up early so he could read a bit before school. This puts a huge smile on my face since I am a reading teacher for early elemantary kids. I am a school librarian. I read the book over the summer and really enjoyed it, and the two copies I have in my library are almost always checked out. I just wrapped up my Scholastic Book Fair. I was frustrated since Scholastic could not supply me nearly enough copies. I think I got a total of 18 for the week, and I could easily have sold 60 or 80. If anyone reading this has any control over the print runs, get more copies to Scholastic!!
Our son found your book at the book fair. While he's a proficient reader, he generally prefers non-fiction, and we often need to encourage him to read. He purchased this book, and it was done in one day. Any spare moment, he read. Even when he was about to go to soccer practice, he asked to take the book. When I reminded him he'd be playing soccer, he said, as if I am the silliest woman ever born, "But I can read it in the CAR!"
Let me tell you, any book that gets my son that excited about reading is a good book. Well, ALMOST any book.

Jeff! I took my students to the book fair today. I couldn't get their attention and noticed they were being distracted by this one particular book. Finally, I had to ask them to put the book on my desk until the end of the day. During a break, I picked up the book and began reading. Gee whiz! How can a boring teacher compete with you??? Excellent work, young man! I intend to show the web version to the entire class.
As a teacher I want to thank you for the Wimpy Kid books. It's hard finding "boy books" my guys want to read that still count for things like AR goals and literature projects. (Sadly, graphic novels are not widely supported in my system. Sigh!) With the first Wimpy Kid book on the shelf at our recent Scholastic book fair, I was able to talk my administrator and librarian into purchasing a class set! I thank you. My guys thank you. And we are awaiting the second book with anxious faces.
This is the best book ever. I read it in about 5 hours. I can't wait until the next book comes out. I'm with everyone on the major love for this book. I was at my ten year old brother's book fair about 2 weeks ago with him and we were trying to find a book to buy. I just saw the cover of this book and thought it looked interesting. He picked that one out of the bunch and immediately started reading it in the car and cracking up. This book made our whole family laugh out loud and my brother who is not an avid reader could not stop and is so excited for the next book in the series. I'm a librarian in NJ who just finished hosting a Scholastic Book Fair...You may have heard that your book was so popular that they're completely out of stock! Scholastic has no more left and my kids have to wait until February, but that didn't deter 30 kids from pre-ordering your book. :)
i love the book the Diary Of a Wimpy Kid i read the book in only two days. when the book come to my book fair it was there and when you turn your back it was gone the people that was helping a the book fair hade to save one for me becouse people bought it so fast.I can't what in tail the next one come.
I think this book is great. My friend also bought the book. I did not buy the book, but I do read it on Funbrain.com. The book is hilarious, funny, great, adviceful, and real-life-like. I think it is a great book for kids like my age (10) to read for many reasons. But to many reasons to say right now!!! Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! this book is sooooooo good (the 1st one) it is so popular at my school since it was at our book fair! there is an ad on funbrain.com and everyone at my schhol sees it cus thats the only game website u can go on (my schhol blocked all the uneducational websites) and when we all saw it at the book fair we were like hey theres that book and then the next day at school i was going to buy it and it was all sold out!!! i was mad but i was like i will get it from the library! and then that had like 25 requests on it and so i thought i would wait, then in for our january book report we had to read a journal type of book so i thought hey i will read diary of a winpy kid and so i asked my friend if i could borrow the book and apparently there was a list of people wanting to borrow it so i was like man and then my other friend bought it and so i asked her if i could borrow it and then she read it in one day i was like sweet so i read it and did my book report and that was that and then my other friend got the 2nd book so guess what im waitnig for it im gooing to read it next (she just started it so i think i will read it soon cus it took me 2 days to read it and she has the whole weekend to read it) i hope the 2nd one is good!!!!
it came to my school and i was the first one to get it there.And then a bunch of kids came running for the same book . in about one minute Diary of a Wimpy Kid Rodrick Rules was sold out in like one minute!all the that were left were a few 1sts. I'm not kidding.

Our teaacher said we were going to have Diary of a Wimpy Kid at our school book fair and I was really looking flrward to it but it didn't come. I hope we could have it next book fair!
i did find it at my school. see the storee iz, that i started 2 reed it online, and i got hooked, so i bought the first book. but then i read it in 1 hour, and i wuz broke, so i spent my ENTIRE weekend babysiting 4 sugar charged children all under the age of 10. now THATS dedication :)and 4 onlee 5 bucks each. at book stores they were like, $50. 2 words: RIP OFF. i mean, i luv the books, but a 6th grade girl can only make SO much money babysitting. i wuz actually reading during math. i was like "ok, shes not looking! here's my chance!" id like read three sentences and a cartoon, and then it was back 2 dividing decimalz :).
I just wanted you to know what you've done for both my boys. They're in 4th and 5th grade. It has been like pulling teeth to get them to read. Until I bought both books at our book fair on March 4th. For the last 24hrs they have not played video games, or watched T.V. They both woke up early just to read before school. WOW, is all I can say. Will there be more? I got it from my Scholastic book fair at Monterey Ridge Elementary (my school.). I also have something to say: You know where it says on page 6 where it says about the girls that everything used to be a lot simpler in elementary but in middle school and up, its about how handsome you are or how you dress or how rich you are, etc. I know what the heck happened: You know when you are a grownup you HAVE to get married (which I heard from my friend Ashwin). Since Greg is a 7th grader, he's almost a grownup, right? So the girls MUST be acting like that.

I've read all the books from the first one to come out. "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" is about Greg inroducing everyone in his life to him. Then, "Diary of a Wimpy Kid - Rodrick Rules" is mainly about the problems Greg has with his older brother Rodric.And lastly "Diary of a Wimpy Kid - Last Straw" is like Greg's dream with his girlfriend. Well, she's not exactly his girlfriend, but Greg dreams of it. And Diary of a Wimpy Kid - Do it yourself is like you making your own Diary of a Wimpy Kid book with puzzles and Mazes and stuff like that. What will Diary of a Wimpy Kid 4 be like??!!

I bought the book at the scholastic book fair at my school last week and every kid in 5th grade wanted to read because it was funny!!!! I can't wait until Rodrick Rules comes out!
Wow i got the book at the book fair AND I WANTED IT SINCE SUMMER! so when i found out it was there i was so happy but its a very popular book cus it got sold out well congradulations!
My son, who just turned 9, read the book on his own in just a few nights. That is a testament to what a great book this is as that is a pretty rare occasion for him! I will definitely look for other books from this author for him. I also work at the school book fair and this book is the hot commodity! It flies off the shelf as soon as we get it stocked!
I was getting a preview of our bookfai4r and saw this book. I am a special ed teacher and have many struggling readers. I looked the book up online and loved it. I put a book on hold and told our media specialist and many other teachers about it. This is a great book for our middle school kids and struggling readers and I think they will lovee it.

I am a school librarian. I read the book over the summer and really enjoyed it, and the two copies I have in my library are almost always checked out. I just wrapped up my Scholastic Book Fair. I was frustrated since Scholastic could not supply me nearly enough copies. I think I got a total of 18 for the week, and I could easily have sold 60 or 80. If anyone reading this has any control over the print runs, get more copies to Scholastic!!

Our son found your book at the book fair. While he's a proficient reader, he generally prefers non-fiction, and we often need to encourage him to read. He purchased this book, and it was done in one day. Any spare moment, he read. Even when he was about to go to soccer practice, he asked to take the book. When I reminded him he'd be playing soccer, he said, as if I am the silliest woman ever born, "But I can read it in the CAR!"
Let me tell you, any book that gets my son that excited about reading is a good book. Well, ALMOST any book.

Jeff! I took my students to the book fair today. I couldn't get their attention and noticed they were being distracted by this one particular book. Finally, I had to ask them to put the book on my desk until the end of the day. During a break, I picked up the book and began reading. Gee whiz! How can a boring teacher compete with you??? Excellent work, young man! I intend to show the web version to the entire class.
As a teacher I want to thank you for the Wimpy Kid books. It's hard finding "boy books" my guys want to read that still count for things like AR goals and literature projects. (Sadly, graphic novels are not widely supported in my system. Sigh!) With the first Wimpy Kid book on the shelf at our recent Scholastic book fair, I was able to talk my administrator and librarian into purchasing a class set! I thank you. My guys thank you. And we are awaiting the second book with anxious faces.
This is the best book ever. I read it in about 5 hours. I can't wait until the next book comes out. Until then I will read this book over and over again.

I'm with everyone on the major love for this book. I was at my ten year old brother's book fair about 2 weeks ago with him and we were trying to find a book to buy. I just saw the cover of this book and thought it looked interesting. He picked that one out of the bunch and immediately started reading it in the car and cracking up. This book made our whole family laugh out loud and my brother who is not an avid reader could not stop and is so excited for the next book in the series. I think this book is great. My friend also bought the book. I did not buy the book, but I do read it on Funbrain.com. The book is hilarious, funny, great, adviceful, and real-life-like. this book is sooooooo good (the 1st one) it is so popular at my school since it was at our book fair! there is an ad on funbrain.com and everyone at my schhol sees it cus thats the only game website u can go on (my schhol blocked all the uneducational websites) and when we all saw it at the book fair we were like hey theres that book and then the next day at school i was going to buy it and it was all sold out!!! i was mad but i was like i will get it from the library! and then that had like 25 requests on it and so i thought i would wait, then in for our january book report we had to read a journal type of book so i thought hey i will read diary of a winpy kid and so i asked my friend if i could borrow the book and apparently there was a list of people wanting to borrow it so i was like man and then my other friend bought it and so i asked her if i could borrow it and then she read it in one day i was like sweet so i read it and did my book report and that was that and then my other friend got the 2nd book so guess what im waitnig for it im gooing to read it next (she just started it so i think i will read it soon cus it took me 2 days to read it and she has the whole weekend to read it) i hope the 2nd one is good!!!!

In a few days or weeks, I don't remember, my school is gonna have the book fair! I'm sooooo gonna buy this book!
i did find it at my school. see the storee iz, that i started 2 reed it online, and i got hooked, so i bought the first book. but then i read it in 1 hour, and i wuz broke, so i spent my ENTIRE weekend babysiting 4 sugar charged children all under the age of 10. now THATS dedication :)and 4 onlee 5 bucks each. at book stores they were like, $50. 2 words: RIP OFF. i mean, i luv the books, but a 6th grade girl can only make SO much money babysitting. i wuz actually reading during math. i was like "ok, shes not looking! here's my chance!" id like read three sentences and a cartoon, and then it was back 2 dividing decimalz :).
I just wanted you to know what you've done for both my boys. They're in 4th and 5th grade. It has been like pulling teeth to get them to read. Until I bought both books at our book fair on March 4th. For the last 24hrs they have not played video games, or watched T.V. They both woke up early just to read before school. WOW, is all I can say. Will there be more? I also have something to say: You know where it says on page 6 where it says about the girls that everything used to be a lot simpler in elementary but in middle school and up, its about how handsome you are or how you dress or how rich you are, etc. I know what the heck happened: You know when you are a grownup you HAVE to get married (which I heard from my friend Ashwin). Since Greg is a 7th grader, he's almost a grownup, right? So the girls MUST be acting like that.

P.S- Even though I'm still in elementary by the way, I'm getting kissed by the crabbiest girl in my class. What really ticks me off (I learned that in your book)is that the crabbiest girl in my class is the girlfriend ("lady friend")of one of my classmates, so she should be kissing her boyfriend. I don't quite get it.

I've read all the books from the first one to come out. "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" is about Greg inroducing everyone in his life to him. Then, "Diary of a Wimpy Kid - Rodrick Rules" is mainly about the problems Greg has with his older brother Rodric.And lastly "Diary of a Wimpy Kid - Last Straw" is like Greg's dream with his girlfriend. Well, she's not exactly his girlfriend, but Greg dreams of it. And Diary of a Wimpy Kid - Do it yourself is like you making your own Diary of a Wimpy Kid book with puzzles and Mazes and stuff like that. What will Diary of a Wimpy Kid 4 be like??!!
