I bought my 9 yr old son your first book. He finished it in two days and then begged me to buy the next one. Roderick Rules was gobbled up within 24 hours of receiving it and now he wants number three.
I explained that books aren't churned out by the publisher as quickly as an author can write them, that there's a process that must be followed, etc. I'm an author myself, so I thought he'd easily appreciate this reality.
Seems I was wrong.
He is tapping his foot, dying for number three. Kudos to you from a fellow author on your spot-on stories. They clearly speak to the audience they were intended for.
My 9 year old son loves your books. I have never seen him read so much. Thank You please write more.

My daughter has never sat down and read on her own. We purchased the Diary of a wipmy kid at the school book fair and she went through it in a matter of a couple of days. We then placed an order with the school librarian to order the 2nd book that she is now reading. I love to see her just sit and enjoy reading!!! Thank you and I hope you continue the great work
Congratulations on your success with the Wimpy books! I was afraid that the voice of Igdoof was silenced forever. I can't tell you how hard I laughed reading that comic. I had graduated several years ahead, but I still read the Diamondback. I still have an old, yellowed clipping of my favorite strip--it's the one where Igdoof is writing new dialog, all centered on farting, for some cartoon strips.
I'm a parent to four boys. I love your books. They make me laugh so hard tears run down my face. Everyone needs to read them. This world would be a better place.
Just wanted to let you know that my 7 year old son LOVES your books. He finished #1 very quickly, and was anxious for #2. The tooth-fairy brought him #2 this morning, and by 3pm on the same day, he had finished it, and has started reading it again.

I am a fifth grade teacher in New York City and my students and I read and really enjoyed your book. Fourteen of my twenty ESL students read it. They loved your book so much that they visited other fourth and fifth grade students at our school during RIF week, read selected parts of the book aloud and presented projects such as board games they created for the other kids. We can't wait to receive our copies of Book 2. As soon as one of them would finish the book, they would pass it around the room to another student to read. This is the only time I have ever seen this excitement about a book in six years of teaching. I took the book home one night and laughed out loud on the subway at Greg and Rowley. You do a great job of describing what middle school is really like. Thanks for writing four more! Can't wait...

My son and I have connected over Diary of a Wimpy Kid like no other book (and I have tried a lot of them). I laughed out loud so many times, especially when Rodrick woke Greg up and convinced him it was the first day of school because my older sister pulled that trick on me at least three times while I was growing up (although hers was that I was late for school, not that I missed summer), and I ALWAYS fell for it. Thanks so much. Can't wait to read #2.

I adored your book. My fourth grade son and I have connected over this like no other book (and I have tried a lot of them). Also, I felt such a kinship with Greg because my sister used to wake me up out of a dead sleep and tell me I was going to be late for school. She did it three or four times while I was growing up and I fell for it every single time. Thanks so much for the wonderful writing!

My son is 8 years old. He is a reluctant reader and gets special assistance at school for reading. I bought your first book at our School Book Fair, gave it to him for christmas...HE FINISHED THE BOOK. It took him a while, but he did it. Hi I am a parent in charge of our schools Book Fair this Spring. We have been talking up your book "Diary of a Wimpy Kid". We were unable to get in the fall so the kids were very excited to see both books on this years Book Fair. But, we were very shocked when a second grader was reading her new "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" book she came across a sentenced that she showed the teacher and the staff made me pull it off the book shelf. On page 33 in the 2nd book, last sentence says "But what was even WORSE was when some girls came up to Rowley at lunch and started kissing his butt". I don't think that second and third graders or any elementary students should be reading. Florida
I finished this thing in 24 hours and I'm ready for the next one and many more...

On april vacation my family and i went to a barnes and nobles over by the burlington mall my dad started reading your book found no interest. Them i picted it up i sat in the same spot for a half an hour. I finished 100 pages and let me say i have never read that much or goten into a book that much before. Hi, Mr. Kinney. I love diary of a wimpy kid! Your books rock. My favorite part in the 2nd book, my favorite part was Rodrick's "One hundred years ago" poem. My fav part in the 1st was new year's eve when Manny swalowed the thread and took an orange out of the fridge to show what size the thread was. Manny is my favorite character. how did u decide what he should look like? I like how he hid on the top shelf on his first day of nursery. Me and my friend Anna (who posted a few comments above me) cracked up all througout both of the books. Espeicially at the "Bink says boo!" kids. See ya!

Can you write faster? My 10 year old son just read the first book in one sitting (and he has NEVER voluntarily read anything besides Calvin & Hobbes e.v.e.r.) and tried to steal the 2nd book from me! I am a fourth grade girl, and your biggest fan. I have read the first book 4 times, and the second, I've already read it once, and still reading it for the second time. They are amazing books. When I grow up, I plan to be a author. I wan't t o write books that get people talking, books like yours! Your ideas a re hilarious, and even my cousin, who is six, and lives on a farm where there is always something to do (Not including reading) asked me if I wanted to use it when she was done, and then threw in all the funny parts,(that was practicly the whole book) and then told me how much she loved it! I told her I had my own, but thanked her anyway. My teacher read the first, and second, and we voted to read them both a gain, starting with the first, and then rereading the second. We ALL love the book, and over half of us have the book, and read along withour teacher. Please write more than 5.

Your stuff is really, really funny - dare I say, brilliant. I've been riffing on them with my seven year old for weeks now. We think that Manny and Rowley are both very funny, partly because of the teeth but there's so much more to it. We both find Rowley's infatuation with Joshie, for example, to be side-splittingly hilarious. We also love the fact that you write out the words "push" and "shove." I am bonding with my son on a whole new level thanks to you. Excellent!

I am a learning support teacher for students in grades 5 and 6. I showed this to the students in my class and it was a big hit! I thought Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Rodrick Rules were on sale in the Monterey Ridge Elementary Scholastic book fair. Man, it was so great, Rodrick Rules was right off the shelf in a second! Besides, I got the last one on the shelf (Diary of a Wimpy Kid). It was so funny (Where Fregley made up the bathroom language and when Rowley created the "Zoo-Wee-Mama! comic strips") I laughed so hard I fell on my carpet!

After our school's book fair many copies of these books were sold. My 10 year old son, who HATES to read began reading book 1. He laughed so much and finished the book in record time. He was able to take an AR test at school, passed and rushed for book 2. He finished that one in record time as well, took another AR test and got 100%....He eagerly awaits book 3! Thank you for getting my son interested in books..if only you could write them as quickly as he reads them! :)

it made me laugh! and smile, i also refreid some of the frineds to it :) they innjoyed it to, im waiting for you next book to come out. i like the green cover, it was a good choice. this was one of my favoritie books i read so far. and the second onne was better then the frist. After you finish this seicrs your should, start a new one, i know alot of people who would read it. :) MEOW! my techer made me do it -.- >.< o.o ^.^ :) =] :D =D

the book -rodrick rules was the best one. very funny. the red book was so so, and the newest one -last straw is the worse. nothing to laugh about. the writer is emtined himself and has no ideas.
